losing him.

me and my boyfriend went out 2 weeks before christmas in 2005 we were both drunk.he disappeared so i went to look for him.i heard something get hit on the road i knew it was him instantly as i went to investigate i saw him lying there surrounded by paramedics his leg hanging on held by a few tendants. i felt ill. ever since i have been grieving i miss him terribly but i know i cant change the past my friends have helped me through the bad times and even now when i have sucidal thoughts they are there to help me through it.

hey, I was close to a woman who had been through a, not exactly similar but, related experience and I know how much she aches. I couldn't help her, it broke me too although one thing I kinda learned is that i'm sure that 'it's' not your fault (nor hers). please, please don't blame yourself or think that there is anything that you could have done differently. things happen, we can't begin to control things - I heard once that the only things that we can learn to control are ourselves. i'm so sorry for you and wish you much luck and hope that your days begin to brighten. can you go away for christmas? kerela on the west coast of india is so beautiful, and full of the kindest people. a bit of a hike, yet well worth it. lots of luck and love

Crikey.... that is such a sad story so tragic and it must be awful for you.... I can only imagine how you feel and I won't try to tell you what to think but my mum died of a heart attack at a young age and I couldn't recover in fact I still haven't if i'm honest. One thing I was told at the time was that "we never ever get over the death of someone close we just learn to live with it" and that was the truest thing said to me. Gradually over time you do. There will be moments where your grief will be so bad that it actually takes your breath away but there will be times when you can actually look back at photos and smile without tears. 2005 was only last year and this year will have been awful as every Valentine's / Birthday / and especially Christmas you will think about the year before, it will never be as bad as this year again I promise. You mention your friends - do they know you are having suicidal thoughts? Talk about it with people that know you before you make yourself ill, your boyfriend would not have wanted that. This website is brilliant for sounding off any views like that too and don't be afraid to try helplines, try try try to surround yourself with people that love you and make you happy and gradually you will rebuild your life and remember happy memories and not that tragic evening.
